Miss Universe 1995, the 44th edition of the pageant, took place on May 12, 1995, at the Windhoek Country Club Resort in Windhoek, Namibia. Chelsi Smith from the United States was crowned by Sushmita Sen of India. With eighty-two contestants participating, this event marked the inaugural occurrence of the pageant in Africa.
